The Unknown

What it's about

In 1926, five women disappeared from a remote island in Vermont. Now, one hundred years later, it is happening again.

Struggling actress Marin Keane lands a role in a major motion picture about the unsolved mystery of New Avalon, an island on Lake Faraday in Vermont, and then learns the part comes with a weeklong research trip to that very spot. A century ago the island was a commune for spiritual mediums, until all of them vanished, leaving behind five dresses hanging from an old oak tree in the middle of the island.

Not long after arriving, Marin and her castmates hear strange noises at night and find mysterious symbols left by the island's previous occupants. Then a health emergency strands them there, and the disappearances begin again. Marin turns to a diary left behind in 1926, hoping it holds the key to what really happened to the women of New Avalon.

Our thoughts

This is what we are reading right now, so the full review is still coming. So far it is the kind of thriller that makes a twenty minute reading break turn into an hour.

We will update this page with our real thoughts, our rating and the covers we ended up pairing it with once we finish.
